I am a mother of four boys. My husband and I were ready for “one more” and ended up with triplet boys! In November 2010, Jaden (our then four-year old) became the proud big brother to Logan, Owen and Weston. Our lives were forever changed! Changing 20-25 diapers a day, feeding 56 oz of formula a day … the list is endless.
Just when we thought we were getting the ‘hang’ of life, we were flipped upside down and inside out. The night of May 21, 2011 Owen was found in his crib not breathing and without a heartbeat. I performed CPR until the paramedics arrived. From there, he was in the hands of the doctors and God. Doug and I walked a hard road with our families for five long days, wondering if our 6 month old baby boy would ever open his eyes again. On May 26, 2011, our Owen was gone. He donated his liver to a little girl in IL who was given more time. His heart was given to a little girl in MN.
While we miss him every second of every day, we celebrate his life and what he was able to teach us during his short time on earth. It’s not the length of your life that matters, but what you do with it.
Our blog started out as a way to keep out-of-town family and friends updated on our crazy life. While our life is still crazy, our family blog is now a testament to family, life (the good and the bad) and about trying to be as best of a mother as I know how. I try to be honest, whether its ugly or not.
When you see or wear orange, know that Owen is near!
